TRIM Context TRIM is a commercial off the shelf system that manages both
paper and electronic documents and applies legal record-keeping
requirements. TRIM was originally developed in Australia and meets the
Australian Standard, the US DoD standard and is on the National
Archives’ list of approved ERM requirements.
TRIM combines powerful electronic document functions with strong
information management principles to ensure records are captured and
made accessible in a secure, scalable and manageable environment.
TRIM manages documents from the point of creation through declaration as
records, to archiving and disposal. The user interface is well
designed, clear and easy to use. TRIM is easy to support: a system
administrator would be able to perform all the normal day to day
functions without any formal programming knowledge.
TRIM is designed for ultimate ease of use, reducing the learning curve for first-time users. The benefits include:
- easy capture and management of corporate information at the desktop
- simplified finding and sharing of information, saving time
- manages both physical or electronic records and supports gradual transition from paper to electronic business
- applies sound records management principles, ensuring secure, cost-effective and timely record retention and disposal
- provides ability to publish documents to the World Wide Web
- allows individuals to manage their documents on and off line
- allows organisations to meet requirements of corporate and government law
Audata has extensive practical experience with this electronic document
records management system (EDRMS). Recent implementations include:
- The National Maritime Museum
- The Royal Parks Agency
- An International Court in The Hague
Audata has developed several TRIM enhancements, notably FOI
tracking software and MultiView which makes it possible to view up to
16 records or images simultaneously through the TRIM viewer.
